The Inaugural Post

So let’s review. I leave Saturday. I’ll be looping around the south end of Lake Ontario, crossing the border in Niagara, and biking to New York City, my first major stop. I’ll hopefully get there in time for the opening of a Robert Venosa exhibition at the MicroCoSM gallery, hosted jointly by Venosa himself and Alex Grey. Then it’s south – by some route, perhaps through the Blue Ridge Mountains – to Georgia, where I’ll be spending a week or two. Then it’s west, stopping briefly at New Orleans, then a grueling trek through the desert into California. I’ll loop north through California, then cut back east across the Rockies into Nevada for Burning Man.

Preparing for the trip has been a pain in the ass, but I have most of what I need. I was able to get a tent, sleeping bag and air mattress, all surprisingly small. Tomorrow I’ll be picking up clothes to get me through any inclement weather and a few extra odds and ends, and then I’ll be ready to go.

Not a very exciting post, I know, but I just wanted to have something here. If you want to get in touch, you can leave comments here or e-mail me – I’ll be checking in every few days or so.

;_; I’m going to miss you Paul. But this travelogue is awesome. Too bad photos won’t be included (or I hope they won’t be. Carrying a camera is rather bothersome and kind of something extra to lose).

I hope, in case anything happens, that you have a spare bike tire on you or at least knows where to get one.

    Good luck Paul.
